Strategic Asset Management & Route Planning
PG Project Services is currently supporting Main Roads in the development of route strategies and corridor planning for Western Australia’s State road network.
Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, we are assisting with strategic assessments of transport corridors, analysis of existing and future transport demands, identifying infrastructure deficiencies and improvement priorities, and developing recommendations that inform short, medium and long-term investment planning.
These strategies provide the foundation for future infrastructure investment, improving network safety, connectivity, resilience and whole-of-life asset performance across the State.
Marble Bar Road Upgrade
PG Project Services, on behalf of Main Roads WA, provided project management and construction support services for the upgrade of approximately 92 kilometres of Marble Bar Road between the Roy Hill Mine area and the McPhee Mine access within the Pilbara Region. Delivered in collaboration with HanRoy, the project upgraded the existing road to a sealed two-lane standard and included the construction of an approximately 8 kilometre bypass around the Nullagine Township.
Our role focused on leading the project development phase, managing the progression of the project from planning through to construction readiness. This included coordinating detailed design, environmental and heritage approvals, land acquisition, stakeholder engagement, project risk management, procurement activities and overall program coordination.
Delivered in one of Western Australia’s most remote regions, the project required careful coordination of complex heritage considerations, land tenure requirements and multiple stakeholder interfaces.
Madigan Estate – Intersection Upgrades
PG Project Services, on behalf of Main Roads WA, provided end-to-end project management services throughout the project development phase for the upgrade of two key intersections providing access to the new Madigan Estate development in Karratha. Working collaboratively with DevelopmentWA, the City of Karratha, Main Roads WA and the project design team, we managed the progression of the project from initial traffic assessment through to contract award.
Our role included:
- Review and obtaining approval for the subdivisions traffic reports
- Scoping and managing preliminary investigations (survey, utility and geotechnical investigations, and environmental and heritage surveys)
- Scoping, engaging and managing concept and detailed design development
- Stakeholder engagement
- Environmental and heritage approvals
- Land tenure and land acquisition of crown land, including access approvals over easements
- Utility service relocations in consultation with utility providers
- Identification and testing for suitability of embankment and pavement material and construction water
- Project risk management, and project status and financial reporting
- Preparation of tender documentation, technical specifications and contract award
Through proactive coordination and strong stakeholder management, we successfully guided the project through the development phase, ensuring the proposed intersection upgrades met the operational requirements of Main Roads WA and the City of Karratha while supporting the timely delivery of the broader residential development.
Great Northern Highway, Rest Stops
PG Project Services, on behalf of Main Roads WA, managed the project development phase for three new rest stops / parking bays along Great Northern Highway. The project included coordinating detailed design development, managing clearance approvals, facilitating stakeholder engagement and identifying and managing project risks throughout the development process.
The new parking bays, located adjacent to the Juna Downs, Chichester and Turner River areas, will provide safer stopping opportunities for road users and heavy vehicles, improving driver amenity and supporting safer freight operations along this important regional transport route.

Great Eastern Highway Shoulder Widening

We scoped, developed, and delivered 100 kilometres of shoulder widening between Northam and Kellerberrin to improve safety and reduce head-on collisions. With only a basic cross section design and variable weather conditions, we remained adaptable, delivering effective on-the go solutions to successfully complete the project.
Fremantle Ports Condition Assessment

We assessed the Port’s existing pavement and civil infrastructure using their scorecard system, ensuring ratings accurately reflected the asset condition to avoid unnecessary replacements. Our evaluation included rectification cost estimates, helping the client prioritise maintenance, plan future works, and secure necessary funding.
Yuri Green Hydrogen Plant, Karratha

We supported our client with technical expert civil engineering advice, including detailed design reviews and assistance with on-site quality assurance. Our involvement helped ensure compliance, reduce risk, and keep the project on track for high quality, reliable delivery.
Spencers Brook-York Rd Improvements

Role: Design Lead & Senior Engineer
We delivered detailed design for 1 kilometre of road widening and two intersection upgrades for this Blackspot funded project. Working within a constrained budget and managing rail and utility interfaces, we provided a well-resolved, cost-effective design that supported the project’s safety goals.
Byford Rail Extension, Armadale Rd

We delivered detailed design for the removal of an existing rail level crossing. The project involved complex safety and interface requirements. With close collaboration with multiple disciplines and stakeholders, we achieved a coordinated and compliant final design.
Leach Highway Drainage Improvement

We delivered a detailed design package for a drainage upgrade along a
flood-prone section of Leach Hwy. The design improved stormwater management and road serviceability, addressing frequent inundation issues and supporting safer, more reliable access for the community.
Great Eastern Highway RAV Classification Assessment
Client: Main Roads

We undertook a road classification assessment in line with Main Roads’ Restricted Access Vehicles (RAV) and Oversize Overmass (OSOM) guidelines to evaluate whether existing road classifications should be increased or reduced. Our evidence based analysis and recommendations gave Main Roads the confidence to make informed decisions when revising RAV status’ for each route assessed.
Cambridge Street, Streetscape Upgrade

We delivered the detailed civil design for a streetscape improvement project that directly impacted adjacent businesses and local residents. Extensive consultation was key to addressing access concerns and minimising disruption, ensuring the final design met both technical requirements and community expectations.
Shepperton Rd Constructability Assessment
Client: Main Roads

Role: Senior Civil Engineer
We carried out a constructability assessment of a design by others, for the addition of a bus lane on this high-traffic corridor carrying over 33,000 vehicles/day. To support efficient delivery, we identified key construction risks and developed staging plans to assist the contractor in minimising disruption and maintaining traffic flow throughout construction, demonstrating to Main Roads the design was constructable, whilst highlighting associated key constraints and risks for the delivery team.
Smart Freeway Mitchell Freeway Southbound

We led the design development of this 22 kilometre multimodal corridor upgrade, coordinating complex interfaces between highway works, Transperth rail, and drainage systems. We ensured cost-effective, integrated solutions and resolved critical design issues in collaboration with Main Roads.
Great Eastern Highway Pavement Condition Assessment

We completed a pavement condition assessment report adopting WALGA
guidelines, delivering a detailed evaluation of pavement performance and defects. Our report enabled the client to make informed decisions on maintenance priorities and long-term asset management.
Indian Ocean Drive Shoulder Widening

We delivered the detailed design for 14 kilometres of road between Green Head and Leeman, addressing safety concerns along an unsafe corridor. This included designing safety barriers for retrospective installation in additional sections, making this section of road safer.
MR83 Summerland Way Grafton Bridge, Sydney

We contributed to the design and planning of multiple concept options for a new crossing across Clarence River, focusing on minimising property resumptions and heritage impacts.
Westgate Tunnel Project, Melbourne

As Civil Lead for Zone 200, we worked collaboratively across delivery teams to resolve RFIs, design deviations, and non-conformance reports on this 5 kilometre toll road motorway project in Melbourne.
Outer Sydney Orbital Road

We led the design concept alignments during the shortlist phase, including access and system interchanges to support corridor planning and evaluation.
